Himalaya Summit Club – Autumn 2025

The Autumn 2025 Mt. Himlung Himal (7,126m) Expedition has come to a successful conclusion—an unforgettable journey filled with strong teamwork, challenging weather, and remarkable achievements. Led and organized by Himalaya Summit Club, this year’s expedition showcased resilience, professionalism, and true Himalayan spirit.

Team Overview

Our international team arrived in Kathmandu on 10 October, representing the UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Russia, and Bangladesh. After final preparations, the team headed toward Phu Valley and reached Base Camp on 18 October.

Germany/Russia: Tatjana

Bangladesh: Kamal, Mojib

Guiding & Support Team

Trail Break Team: Lead Guide Ash , Guides: Om, Bis, Sunit, Tiraj, Sujan

Journey to the Mountain

The days following the arrival at Base Camp were dedicated to:

Puja ceremony

Technical skills training

Acclimatization hikes

Rotations to Camp I and Camp II

All climbers acclimatized exceptionally well, completing rotations without any major issues.

Early Summit Success

Before the weather shifted, two climbers achieved their summit goals:

24 Oct – Mr. Ilter (UK)

26 Oct – Mr. Matthieu (France)

Both reached the top with strong form and safe returns.

A Sudden Weather Change

Just as the team prepared for a collective summit push on 28–29 October, a powerful cyclone hit the region:

Heavy snowfall

Increased avalanche risk

Buried trails

Severely impacted climbing schedule

Due to safety considerations, Andy and Steve made the responsible decision to end their summit attempt and return home.

On 1 November, another group—Pascal, Nelsia, Kamal, and Mojib—reached Camp I but were forced to turn back due to the deep snow and limited time before international flights.

Pascal (64 years old) performed outstandingly throughout the rotation but made a wise choice to postpone his summit attempt to next season.

Tatjana reached within 100 meters of the summit but chose to turn around.

Safety always comes first in the mountains.

Trail Breaking: A True Himalayan Summit Effort

Following the heavy snowfall, no other teams on the mountain were willing to open the route, including:

Rescue teams moving toward Camp III

Rope-fixing teams above Camp III

Despite requests for cooperation, they chose to follow our tracks instead of helping break the trail.

As a result, our Himalaya Summit Club Guide Team broke the entire trail from Base Camp to the summit—an extremely demanding and time-consuming task.

Summit After the Storm – 3 November

Ms. Delphine (France)

Mr. Thomas (Germany)

Along with our Guide Team

Their summit, achieved under tough snow conditions with zero external support, stands out as one of the most remarkable successes of the season.

Key Takeaways for Future Teams

Ideal Team Size

A group of 10–12 climbers works best for a safe, efficient, and well-supported expedition.

Best Summit Window

We recommend planning the main summit push around 20-25 October for better conditions.

Returning for 2026

All non-summiters have expressed strong interest in joining next year.

Final Words

Despite challenging weather and lack of cooperation from other teams, Himalaya Summit Club led the only team to break the trail and reach the summit safely after the storm. The success achieved is a testament to our guiding excellence, careful planning, and unwavering commitment to safety and teamwork.

Thank you to everyone involved.
