Tul Singh Gurung
Founder/Mountain GuideHimalaya born and bred, Mr. Tul Singh Gurung is one of the most influential figures in the tourism and mountaineering fields of Nepal. Popular in Nepal as Tulsi, Mr. Gurung grew up in the historical village of Laprak, Gorkha, where every child dreams to grow up to be a soldier. This inspiration also fueled Mr. Gurung; however, his aspirations were cut short when he failed to be selected in the British Army. Dramatically, this came as a blessing to both him and Nepali tourism.
His fiery passion for travel and love for the mountains motivated him to assist others to explore the mysteries of Nepal. His breakthrough year came in 2008 when he summited the Mount Everest (8,848m) with SAMA Indian Expedition. Since then, Mr. Tulsi has gone from strength to strength and, today, boasts of ascents to Cho Oyu (8188m), Ama Dablam (6,856m), Mt. Elbrus (Russia|5,642m), Mt. Blanc (France|4,810m), and Mt. Olympus (USA|4,200m) among numerous other peaks around the world. His mountaineering feats seem even more astounding when considering he has summited the Island Peak (6,189m) five times and the Lobuche East (6,119m) thrice.
Over the years, he has garnished his skills as an Instructor and Guide. He has received numerous training and participated in a plethora of national and international events to help him develop his repertoire. President of Manaslu Foundation, Mr. Gurung is also the former General Secretary of Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association (NMIA) and the current General Secretary of Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA). He is also an Executive Board Member and Instructor at Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), president of Gorkha Alpine Club, the coordinator of Rescue Committee at Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) and the Member/Guide of International Federation of Mountain Guide Association (IFMGA/UIAGM). https://ifmga.info/%3Cnolink%3E/what-professional-mountain-guide
As glistening as his influence in Nepali tourism is, he believes that there is still more to be done. Himalaya Summit Club is his initiative to promote inventive and reliable tourism packages as well as mountaineering training courses in Nepal. Mr. Tul Singh Gurung is always ready to face a challenge and, more often than not, he comes out on the top. An easy-going personality, great humor, and bundles of knowledge on tourism, Mr. Tulsi is a friend to the clients rather than a guide or an instructor.
