Mt Everest-South Side Expedition Itinerary

  • Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m) and Transfer to Hotel.

    Today you’ll be landing at Tribhuvan International Airport. Upon your arrival, our staff members will greet you and transfer to your hotel. After you have enjoyed a rest in the hotel, you can head out to explore the city. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 2-3 Preparation and Briefing for Departure to Everest Region

    During these couple of days, professionals of mountaineering will conduct sessions on the use of tools and equipment required for the expedition. You will also be informed of the rules, regulations, tips, and tricks of the Everest Expedition.If time permits, you can also visit the UNESCO enlisted world heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley. Overnight stays at a hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 4 Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840m) and Trek to Phakding (2,610m): 35 mins flight and 2-3 hrs trek.

    Early in the morning, you’ll take a scenic mountain flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. It takes about 35minutes of scenic air travel to reach there. Once at Lukla, our real trek begins. You’ll start your trek towards Phakding along with Dudh Koshi River flowing on the edge. Before reaching your destination, you’ll get a sublime view of Mt. Nupla(5,885m) and Kusum Khangkaru(6,367m). Overnight stay at Phakding.

  • Day 5 Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,450m): 5-6 hrs trek.

    After breakfast, you’ll start your trek towards Bengkar which leads the way towards the village of Monjo. Monjo is also known as the entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park. As you descend towards the settlement of Jorsalle, you’ll walk past the forest of pine and rhododendron crossing few suspension bridges to reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.

  • Day 6 Rest day for acclimatization (3,450m).

    Today is the rest day especially sanctioned for acclimatization. Early in the morning, you can hike to Khumjung or Everest View Hotel, from where you can enjoy a glorious view of Ama Dablam (6,856m), Thamserku (6,608m), Nuptse (7,861m), Lhotse (8,414m) and the Mt. Everest (8,848m) itself. You can also roam around the local market, interact with local people and get familiar with their unique culture and tradition. Overnight stay at Namche.

  • Day 7 Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860m): 5-6 hrs trek.

    Early in the morning, along with Imja Khola flowing on the edge, you’ll cross several villages including Khumjung and Sanasa and further, descend towards the settlements of PhunkeTenga. You tread on forested route to reach Tengboche. At Tengboche, you can also visit the famed Tengboche Monastery which does not just serve as a religious hub of the Everest region but also is a viewpoint to witness the Himalayan panorama of the Everest (8,848m), Ama Dablam (6,856m), and numerous other peaks. Overnight stay at Tengboche.

  • Day 8 Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4,240m): 5-6 hrs trek.

    After breakfast, the trail goes towards the settlements of Debuche along with Imja Khola. A steep climb of few hours in the presence nature itself takes you to lower Pangboche from where you can get a breathtaking view of several snow-capped mountains and green hills which leads the way towards Dingboche. At Dingboche, you can explore the village and witness the Sherpa culture on offer there. Overnight stay at Dingboche.

  • Day 9 Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4,940m): 5-6 hrs trek.

    On the 9th day, you’ll be trekking towards Lobuche. As you move forward, you’ll walk past several hamlets, stony path and large bushes and reach Thukla. From here, ascending to Dughla Pass at 4830m is a difficult task. Finally, crossing wide grazing fields, green forest, and tree lines, you'll reach Lobuche. On the latter stages of the trek, you go through glacial moraines and steep climbs. Overnight stay at Lobuche.

  • Day 10 Rest for acclimatization at Lobuche.

    Lobuche is a small settlement in Khumbu region which offers a stunning view of Lobuche East (6,119m), Lobuche West (6,145m), Nuptse (7,861m), and Lhotse (8,414m). After breakfast, you can utilize your free time by visiting Italian Pyramid Laboratory-Observatory. For the remainder of the day, you can hike around the village and witness mesmerizing sights of the Himalayas. Overnight stay at Lobuche.

  • Day 11 Trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep (5,150m): 4-5 hrs trek.

    A trek to Gorakshep from Lobuche is quite adventurous. As you move towards the wide valley, you'll cross several narrow tracks and long terraces. Changri Glacier is the main attraction of this route. The beautiful forest of rhododendron and pine along with sights of Nuptse (7,861m) and Mt. Pumo Ri (7,165m) makes the trek a pleasant one. Overnight stay at Gorakshep.

  • Day 12 Trek from Gorakshep to Everest Base Camp (5,364m): 5-6 hrs trek.

    Along with glorious views of Lhotse (7,861m) and Khumbutse (6,665m), you'll now march towards Khumbu glacier. Crossing several rivers and snow-covered terraces, you'll take a steep climb to the top of the ridge which paves the way towards Everest Base Camp. Once at the base camp, you can get a panoramic view of the Khumbu region and its surroundings including the Icefall and Glacier. Overnight stay at Everest Base Camp.

  • Day 13-57 Everest Summit Climbing.

    From the base camp, you’ll ascend further towards the advance base camp which is the starting point for your climb to the summit. Crossing large glaciers and snow-covered terraces, you'll now ascend towards Camp I at 6,065m. Camp I is mostly used for dumping equipment and staying for any emergency. As you move towards Camp II at 6,750m, you'll make full use of climbing gears including crampons, ice axe, ropes, and many more. Enjoying an eye-catching the view of several snow-capped mountains and crossing large ice fields, you'll further ascend to Camp IV at 7,920m on a fixed rope via Camp III at 7,100m. Camp IV is the last camp and it is quite an easy to climb when compared to other sections of the climb. After several attempts, you'll finally reach the Summit of Mount Everest (8,848m). Once at the top, your heart will be filled with a sense of accomplishment and full of joy. With a content heart, you'll get a 360-degree view of the Everest region from the top. After enjoying the genuine moment of profound accomplishment, you return to the base camp. Overnight stays at tented camps.

  • Day 58 Trek from Base Camp to Dingboche (4,410m) via Lobuche: 5-6 hrs trek.

    Following back the same trail, you’ll first descend towards the settlements of Lobuche via Gorakshep enjoying a stunning view of Kalapatthar(5,643m), Lobuche East(6,119m) and Lobuche West(6,145m). The trail further passes through Dughla Pass at 4,830m and proceeds towards Dingboche via Thukla. Finally, you’ll reach your destination crossing several tree lines, narrow paths and wide forest of rhododendron. Overnight stay at Dingboche.

  • Day 59-60 Trek from Dingboche to Namche (3,440m): 6-7 hrs trek.

    After breakfast, you’ll descend further towards several villages including Pangboche, Tengboche, PhunkeTenga,and, finally, to Namche along with Imja and Dudh Koshi Riverflowing on the edge. The trail gives the pleasure of experiencing the wildlife, natural diversity, ancient culture and tradition of Sherpa people along with a stunning view of various snow-capped mountain peaks including Mt. Everest (8,848m). Overnight stay at Namche.

  • Day 61 Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,840m): 5-6 hrs trek.

    From Namche, you’ll first descend towards the village of Monjo and then to Phakding. On the way down, you’ll get a glimpse of endangered wildlife and natural vegetation of Sagarmatha National Park. Along with Dudh Koshi River, you’ll now march towards Lukla crossing several suspension bridges and beautiful waterfalls. Overnight stay at Lukla.

  • Day 62 Fly Back to Kathmandu.

    Bidding farewell to the Himalayas, you’ll take a flight back to Kathmandu. It is a short scenic flight over the hills and mountains which make up for mesmerizing views. Once in Kathmandu, you can roam around the Thamel area, buy a souvenir and participate in its nightlife. You can also visit the wellness centers in the valley to get rid of your mountain-tired legs. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 63 Leisure day and sightseeing.

    Today is the rest day after a long adventurous trek. We will arrange a local guide who will take you to UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Pashupatinath, the Kathmandu Durbar Square, the Boudhanath Stupa, and the Swayambhunath Temple. These sites are not only famed to be tourist attractions but display a surreal exhibition of art, craft, and culture. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 64 Transfer for Final Departure.

    Today is your last day in Nepal. We'll drop you off two hours prior to your scheduled flight. You can also share your experience with us on the way to the Airport. Goodbye!
