Mt. Chulu East Peak Climbing Itinerary

  • Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m).

    Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will warmly receive you and escort you to your hotel. After checking-in, you will meet your trek guide and discuss the trip. In the evening, you can choose to go out to take a stroll or to shop for essential trek/climb accessories, gears, and equipment. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 2-3 Climbing preparation.

    During these two days, you make preparations for the climb. Your guide will take you for the rock climbing session to get ready you on some of the terrains you might encounter while on the journey. You’ll try various difficulties and prepare yourself. You can also choose to embark on a short tour of the Kathmandu city and witness some of the most popular UNESCO World Heritage Sites before leaving for the climb. Overnight stays at a hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 4 Drive from Kathmandu to Jagat (1,300m) via Besisahar (9 hours).

    After an early morning breakfast, you’ll embark on a road journey to the north west of Kathmandu. The 172.9km stretch of serpentine road goes through the swirling hills, large gorges, and along the massive river to Besisahar. A small town, Besisahar serves as the gateway to the Annapurna circuit trail. From Besisahar, you’ll north to the village of Jagat. Overnight stay at Jagat.

  • Day 5-7 Trek to Chame (2,670m).

    The first day of the trek will be a moderate trek through Jagat village. It may take well over 6hr to reach Chame which goes along the Marsayangdi River. It serves as the headquarters of Manang district. The scenic village contains no more than 1500 inhabitants. The local peak of Lamjung Himal (6983m) will be clearly visible from the village. Overnight stay at Chame.

  • Day 8 Trek to Pisang (3,150m).

    The trail ascends gradually through the forested path to the beautiful village of Pisang. You’ll pass through the villages of Telekhu, Bhratang, and Dhikur Pokhari en route before reaching Pisang.You can witness the mesmerizing sights of Annapurna massif and Pisang Peak (6,091m) from the Lower Pisang village along with numerous Tibetan styled thatched roof houses and Buddhist monasteries.Overnight stay at Pisang.

  • Day 9 Trek from Pisang to Ngawal Village (3,660m) (3-4 hours).

    Today you’ll hike from Pisang to Ngawal via Ghyaru. The trek from Upper Pisang to Ngawal is also a short one as you begin by heading towards Deurali Danda. Thereon, you pass Ghyaru and tread towards Ngawal. Along the trail, you’ll have the best view of the Annapurna Massif along with Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), Annapurna III (7,555m), and Gangapurna (7,454m). Overnight stay at Ngawal.

  • Day 10 Trek from Ngawal village to Chulu East Basecamp (4,400m) (5- 6 hours).

    Today, you’ll trek from Ngawal village to Chulu East Base Camp. The high-altitude terrain may pose some difficulty while walking; however, with enough rest en route, you can easily cross the distance. You walk along the moraines and snow to the foot of Chulu East Peak. The magnificent view of Annapurna massif will be visible throughout the trail. Your guide will brief you on the climb gears and climb overview. Overnight stay at a tented camp.

  • Day 11-13 Hike from Basecamp to High Camp (5,330m) (3-4 hours).

    You’ll make an ascent from the base camp to the high camp. This allows enough time for acclimatization and rest before attempting the summit. You’ll move up Chulu glacier through the snow slopes. Once at the high camp, you’ll prepare for the summit. Tonight, you’ll sleep early so you can wake up before the day breaks. An early summit is essential to complete the climb and the descent that follows. Overnight stay at High Camp.

  • Day 14 Climbing day, High camp to Summit (6,584m/21,595ft.) and back to base camp (8-9 hours).

    Today is a thrilling day as you make the summit of the Chulu East Peak. You'll wake up early today, as early as 2 am, and prepare your gear and equipment. The climb will be led by your guide. You'll use the prefixed rope and undertake an alpine climbing style to go up. It can be arduous to cross the snow slopes to the top, however, once at the summit you'll be gifted with the beautiful scenery of Annapurna massif at the distance along with surrounding small peaks, and Chulu glacier. After a brief rest at the top, you'll make your way back to the Base Camp. Overnight stay at a tented camp.

  • Day 15 Trek from Base Camp to Humde (3,280m)(4-5 hours).

    Today, you’ll descend along the Chulu glacier to the village of Humde. Walking along the Manang Road will bring you to Humde village. A small domestic airport is available at Humde which connects the remote village to Pokhara. Along the trail, you can witness rocky gorges, small stream, and the serene Himalaya peaks. Overnight stay at Humde.

  • Day 16 Trek from Humde to Chame (2,670m) (5-6 hours).

    Today you’ll descend further from Humde to Chame village. The trek will go straight through the Manang Road as you pass through Dhikur Pokhari before reaching Chame village. Leaving the Swargadwari region, you trek across the Pangdi Danda to arrive at Chame. The trail follows Marsayangdi River for the majority of the occasions as well. Overnight stay at Chame.

  • Day 17 Drive from Chame to Besisahar (760m) (4-5 hours).

    Today, you’ll cut the trek short and drive back to Besisahar. The serene ride will take you through the lush forest and hills of Bahundanda and Jagat before reaching Besisahar. You’ll cross numerous streams and suspension bridges en route. The ride might be a bit scary; however, is filled with adventure. Overnight stay at Besisahar.

  • Day 18 Drive from Besisahar to Kathmandu and transfer to the Hotel (5-6 hours).

    Today, you’ll retrace the same route and drive back to Kathmandu. The 172.9km of distance will go along the serpentine roads, high hills, gorges, and massive river. Once in Kathmandu, you’ll check into the hotel and simply relax. You can also explore the restaurants and diners in the city which offer local cuisines and other delicacies. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 19 Final departure.

    Our dedicated representative will drop you off at the Airport. You will leave approximately 2hr early so to avoid any traffic congestion or delays. En route, you can share your experience with us.
